Florida Regional 2007

Scoring on the FIRST site for Wisconsin and Pittsburgh, but not for Florida, FLR, Bayou, Great Lakes, or the west coast events (AZ and LA, where it is still too early.). Don’t know why. I’m pretty sure we had STL results up right from the beginning of Friday last week. I’m sure they are working on it at all events and results will show up soon.

Team 79 has the best robot/driver combination I have seen this year…$0.02

Bayou is up too, Roc and Fl may just be a lack of internet connections [to the Field Management System].

Interesting.

Right now, I can see standings for Bayou, but not match results.

Probably you are right about the cause; not all venues get good internet connections.

How unfortunate. I’ve got the webcast working (becuase there isn’t one of GLR :frowning: ) and it’s lunch break. I’m taking my laptop to math class and watching there too…

Stupid college classes:mad:

Looks like a great regional down there in FL. Don’t know how the New England teams are doing, no rankings :frowning: But you guys have a great MC and a blast from the past. Greg Hale who use to MC New England while Woodie was off at the other new regionals like New Jersey, etc. back in 98. Question does Greg still work at Disney?? Just curious.

Thanks,

Justin

The last I saw, Greg was the Chief Safety Officer of the Walt Disney Co., and was assigned to that position after a series of accidents at the parks led to some bad PR. I’m not sure he still holds that position.

Watching the webcast I have seen a tonn of good ramp bots. This seems to be the regional of the ramp bots :stuck_out_tongue:

At least most of them are the full type of ramp bots (not the slot bots) with alot of space to get up on them.

I just got the webcast to work 1902 is looking really good. that was a impressive Congo line you guys had going on there seem like an exciting regional.

Wow 79 is a very very impressive machine…i believe they just removed a spoiler!

79 and 1902 seem to be the power houses. Should be an exciting eliminations.

Wow, that was fun to watch the competition today on the webcast! Which bot had it’s arm taken out? I missed the number of it…:ahh:

Looking great everyone! Tomorrow’s gonna be awesome, and I think I’ll actually wake up before noon because FIRST is just that exciting!

Congrats to the following teams on their award wins! :

1902 - Imagery
56 - Innovation in Control
386 - Creativity
69 - Delphi’s Driving Tomorrow’s Technology
342 - Entrepreneurship
1270 - Judges’ Award
1065 - Website (Way to go Michelle and the rest of the webteam! :))
Warren Boudreaux - WFA

179 is also doing pretty well from the few matches I’ve been able to watch. They seem to be able to score 3-4 a match, then get back to deploy their ramps.
1902s biggest advantage is the keepers I think (they have had the most impressive autonomous I’ve seen at UCF), but they are getting harassed a lot during driver control. When left alone they are brutal.
I think 79 became the first team to remove a spoiler as well.

From what I heard about practice day, 233 seemed impressive when they took the field (granted, this is all second hand knowledge). I missed their matches today though, and they missed several this morning.

They did go out once today (around 3:00ish), but it looked like they were having some problems with their arm.

I saw pink compete in two matches today. In one of them they scored about 2 to 3 tubes and in the second match I saw a tube got stuck on their flag in auto. and they could not get it off.

the match i saw, right after lunch, 233 was pretty much shut down by 744, they were able to get one or two ringers on i think, and then were simply pushed around

Congratulations to all teams. I was there all day Saturday and I am saw some good robots. Good to see old friends to. Unfortunately being an adult is no fun and I had to work all day and couldn’t see any matches. Its sad to here about 233’s robot, they always have a strong robot I hope they can get it working. 79 has an impressive robot, but they always do.

On a different note. The stuff I am hearing about next years regional is really exciting and I can’t wait to start volunteering again.

Good luck to all teams tomorrow hopefully I can stop by after I get off work.
I am the person wearing the “vintage” (as someone put it on Thursday) PAW 710 shirt.

This is the transcript of the matches that our scout was able to compile. It has a few matches missing around lunch and it dosn’t have the first one. Also, if there are any inaccuracies, please post them. Enjoy.

Here’s my update:
yes 79 is awesome. I haven’t seen a lot of matches, but our scouting has them as best scorer. 1902, 179, 56, 1523 are all averaging 4+ per match. there are another 7 or so 2-3 cappers. Then you have about 6 good ramps - 312, 180, 179, 1345, 69, 86. But another 12 or so that don’t work. We’ve tried to climb 2 ramps today that didn’t work. Our I/R sensor we use for autonomous won’t work in the halogen lights. We score every single time at the practice field. But it refuses to work on the playing field. So frustrating… 386, and 1902 have great autonomous. It think there might be more, but I haven’t seen them. Pinks arm was tearing itself apart, but they had somone rush new parts to them and got back up and running. I guarantee they will be in finals and do very well. They were just unlucky with 744 chasing them their 1 match today, and no other partners. We’re still seeing repetitive match alliances. We’ve got quite a few w/ and against 665 and 435. But I’ve seen much worse, I think 1902 had 5 or 6 matches against 1 team (glad it wasn’t us). We’ve had bad luck with pairings etc. but hopefully we can get in a good alliance in the end. It’s going to be a rough set of finals in Florida, ramps and ringers everywhere, don’t miss it!
As far as the 3 on 1’s, I can tell you that our inspection took over an HOUR! I can’t fathom how they planned to get 51 inspections done with that level of detail. It was brutal… What they were doing measuring bots on the field and such, I don’t know. Maybe they finaly backed off on the inspection requirements to get the bulk through and then followed up on the field. I know this morning they still had 28 inspections to go…
