Have any insights into how FLR is going to go down? (I’m a member of a team attending FLR for the first time)
Having attended FLR last year I can say that it is a very fun event with tons of great teams attending. I predict that 5254 and 1405 will be very good once again and will go deep into eliminations.
340 seeds 1.
340 wins.

There bot sure does look good (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nTdmqyY1-wc). Any other’s to watch out for?
Everyone.
FLR is probably going to be one of the most competitive events you will attend. We don’t necessarily have any power house teams but we have a VERY deep field of mid tier robots.
I too think G.R.R will go far, their supremacy at gears will definitely seed them highly.
I’ve attended all four NY regionals over the last few years. Upstate New York is a completely different ball game than downstate. Everyone is so evenly matched YOU need to have the perfect alliance or strategy to win. So many upsets happen, and I am excited to see how FLR plays out with it being everyone’s first event(except for I believe 1 team.).
That is correct 1559 DevilTech is the only team attending a week 2 event.
It should be a really enticing regional to watch, with so many robots evenly matched up but it should be really stressful for anyone competing there. Don’t be surprised if you change seeds erratically.
Ehhhhhhhh
I do think 340 will win… but with who??
Last year was impressed by the deep pool at Finger Lakes. I wish we could make it back this year; it’s a shame Tech Valley is the same weekend.
Wow I think 340 looks good, but I don’t know that they’re a lock for the win. FLR has a ton of consistently good teams with varied skill sets.
Exactly. Unless 340 is going to be starting 4 rotors by themselves I don’t think they’re a lock for the win. I don’t think anyone is a lock for the win. Even putting up 4 with partners is going to be difficult and 3 rotors isn’t uncommon.
However I do think 340 will go far and best of luck to them.
Also keep in mind this is FLR where solid defense isn’t necessarily uncommon.
Every team at FLR is doing their first competition this year instead of having a competition under theur belt by the time FLR came around last year like 75% of the teams did. Also many teams have not revealed their robot. most notably 3015.So I’m not giving out any blue banners to anyone just yet.
1559 is competing at Miami Valley this weekend.
I stand corrected. That could be a big advantage for them.
After week 1, they’re a lock for the win unless anyone else at FLR is even close to as good at gears as they are. They’re a team potentially so much better at gears that they can actually get to the 4th rotor (not alone) through heavy defense. Won’t even be close unless something on that robot breaks or goes wrong.
They built the right robot for this game, most of the rest of us did not.
1559 seeded 4th at Miami - enough said…
It’ll be an interesting one.
