FLR to be locally televised.

Here is an e-mail that my teacher/advisor received today.

FYI team leaders, here is some good news for you!
If you had not yet heard, the regional will be viewable on Time Warner cable channel 4 (The RIT, Brockport, MCC educational access channel) Friday and Saturday 9 - 5 pm.

Please spread the word especially to those who may not have had a chance to see a FIRST robotics competition.
Perhaps you might think about putting up school posters for students at your respective schools or even (if possible) a cafeteria TV monitor so the students can watch the cablecast. Another idea might be to let have non-involved superintendents, principals or possible sponsors tune in.

The Cablecast will be available to Time Warner cable TV subscribers of any level (even basic $10/month cable) in Rochester NY and nearby suburbs.

The Cablecast has been sponsored by RIT and several Franklin robotics team mentors.
Also: there will be a WXXI Homework Hotline show with a few minutes of coverage of a City of Rochester FIRST robotics team. This will be aired Thursday March 8th at 5:30 pm. Please tune in!

Coverage of Homework Hotline broadcast includes all of NY state, portions of Vermont, Mass, Conan, PA and Montreal and Quebec!

NY city area will air the show on Monday March 12th at 4:30pm. If you know people in these localities who would be interested, please let them know.

WOOOOOT!

Yes that is great news! We should definatly tape that. Anyone know if there will be a webcast as well?

Awsome!

Setting my DVR.

That is awesome. Now, I wish I had a DVR…

yeah it is pretty awesome news…to say the least

If you have friends, teammates or anyone you know (like me) who has one, just have them record it and provide a video tape of the event for you.

I’m going to do both DVR and tape so that I can watch the matches again that night. It should really help with scouting.

Oh man, that is so cool.

1 down, dozens to go…

This is the type of coverage that a FIRST event needs.
I remember seeing tape of the FIRST championship when it was on ESPN and it was so watered down it failed to capture the true feel of the event (kind of like when they cover track and field or drag racing. They skip the preliminaries and skip to the tournament). No way a major network of any kind can dedicate that many hours to a full FIRST event.

Ugh, apparently I’m on Buffalo cable and don’t get that channel. I had my DVR all set n ready to record. :frowning:

The matches will be recorded by me and edited by Ellery and uploaded to SOAP. So you wll still be able to ge them.

ty Ed!!!

and Ellery.
Don’t forget him.
You’re welcome.

ahh, yes Muscles is playing a little part this year for FRC i see.
