Do you have a small logo or 3D mascot you would like to see against the curvature of the Earth and black of space? Send them to us by December 19th (don’t ship later than 12/14) and we will try to load it on top of our payload box that rides a Hydrogen filled balloon to about 100,000 feet in view of a 360 camera. We are reserving 800g of payload mass for FRC logos and mascots. 3D printed things will fly well. DREAMS-30 will fly on January 2nd, 2019 or before kickoff if weather allows. Send prospective flight candidates to:
Columbus High School
Attn: Luther Richardson
1700 Cherokee Ave
Columbus, Georgia 31906
(First come first serve or we can fly on a later flight probably this summer)
We flew a pig from FRC1902 Exploding Bacon as you can see in this warped image of the 29th mission of the DREAMS program - https://youtu.be/KsetY5UDtwM
Goal is to make video and stills available to everyone before kickoff. What a good start for a season of “Deep Space!”
Important Note: Space is dangerous. All of the top experiments (and the Exploding Bacon pig) were “set free” to fall from 103,500 feet when we experiences a string failure that ended up scrapping everything off the top of the payload box - so we proved pigs can fly (or fall at terminal velocity).

The 360 camera will not miss anything! But to keep it flat, something like 2-3 inches is a good dimension to fit on the top box and easily show up in a image capture.
For logos, we can print them in color and place them on a lightweight mylar screen. I can take them by email: astro at mit dot edu. Send a decent resolution to print a clean 3" logo.
Raining since Xmas so rescheduled flight between bag & tag and Worlds - the logos from the teams signed up are ready to fly and can be seen here: https://sites.google.com/view/csp4188/dreams. The two images link to a larger version. The actual camera that records during flight is much higher resolution - a Garmin VIRB360. We can ship freshly flown space logos back to teams or have them ready for pickup at Worlds (if we all make it!). The alligator from FRC179 is not in the picture but will make it for flight. The green guy is the mascot from a very cool FRC sponsor, Automation Direct!
