FMS Light error "Unable to download the manifest from the central server"

Hi all,

I am assisting in running a small off-season scrimmage coming up this labor day weekend and would love to use FMS Light to run this event. I have downloaded FMS Light from the FIRST website along with .NET 3.5 as per the FMS Light manual.

The problem comes when I start up FMS Light. I am getting an error message the reads “Unable to download the manifest from the central server.” (This is coming from the FMS Launcher that automatically starts up) I have all firewalls/virus protection disabled along with windows firewall so I’m not sure where to go from here since I can’t start up the software.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!

(If this was discussed in another thread I apologize I could not find anything on this issue.)

Thanks

Does this version give the same error?

The version you provided starts up no problem, but… the FMS crashes whenever I hit Start.

Any thoughts?

Did you give it 6 valid team numbers?
Bypass the teams that aren’t connected?

Read the Light Guide?

I don’t have a machine handy to test with, but I’ll play with it a little tomorrow if I can find an available PC.

I had 1 valid red and 1 valid blue team. The other 4 spots are bypassed.

FMS router is set to 10.0.0.4

FMS PC is set to 10.0.0.9

subnet on all devices is 255.0.0.0

Both robots can run around on the FMS router without the FMS software running on the PC fine, and both DS’s go into FMS mode when the software is started up and disable like they should. I then hit the start button under Auton and the FMS Light locks up waits a few seconds then reports a crash and closes.

Here is another earlier version (I think it might be the first public release from 2009) taken from one of my machines that’s running it.
This version isn’t linked to an outside server either.
It’s just the files, not the installer, so just unzip and double-click FMSLight.exe to start it.

Do any of these versions have the audience display? If not no big deal, just won’t have the sounds.

No Audience Display with these.
P.S. The version with the manifest problem (208.82.132.46 is down for everyone, old IP I’d guess) does have the Audience screen.
It’d be an older game if it did. The Audience screen and the scoring behind it being game specific.

There was an intermediate version that did the Audience Screen and had some database requirements, but that also hasn’t been publicly released that I’ve found.

The last zip file does contain the sounds, but you’d have to play them by hand.

Are you talking about FMS delta? It’s available from AndyMark. Off-Season Event FRC Field - AndyMark, Inc . I haven’t tried it, however.

That’s the one. I never looked on AndyMark
FMS Delta handles the Audience Screen and sounds, but does have other software requirements that need to be installed.

AndyMark also has a nice scorekeeper app for Rebound Rumble you might take a look at using.

[strike]You might try the FMS Light version on the AndyMark site, too. It’ll probably still have the manifest loading problem though.
That version should also have the Audience screen and might be a later version than the one on the old FIRST 2009 webpage.[/strike] Nope I just checked it and it’s also from 2009.

I have tried FMS delta, gives the same manifest error. :ahh: That latest version you linked me from 358’s website (http://team358.org//files/programmin...ight-358XP.zip) with the manual sounds does work! At this point ill’l take no sounds over no FMS!

Thanks again for all the help, hopefully FIRST fixes the update issue with the current version of FMS!

O… and I’ll definitely look into that score keeper program!

Thanks again!

Glad it worked. I knew there was a reason I kept old versions of things around.

It seems like the later FMS Light manifest dependent versions do all right if they have ever at some time in the past, been able to connect to that FIRST server at least once. I even found an installation on one of my machines where FMS Light works, but not the Audience screen-because of the manifest. I assume because I had never had a reason to fire up the Audience screen on that particular machine.
