My team is considering using one of the compatible HID gamepad controllers to control our robot this year, and I was wondering if it would be at all possible to send feedback to the “rumble” feature that many of these controllers have. If so, how exactly would I go about sending information back to the gamepad?
In order for this to work, the commands would have to go through the DS. I’m not aware of any data that can be sent in the protocol that will rumble the joysticks, sorry.

However, the “rumble” is a small motor inside the gamepad.
Would you violate the motor rule? I can’t recall, but I doubt it.
Anyway, if you checked the motor specs you could probably just cut the power leads from the motor and use the digital outputs on the DS to run them if the amperage / voltage line up reasonable well. Then you could just turn it on/off to turn the rumble motor on/off.
