So much better than MMP
Why not do all of Einstein in there? It looks like sunlight wouldn’t be an issue and the venue is capable of doing it.
Too many robots to move.
Who wins? Doesn’t matter which field. Michigan wins.
A+ for FIRST for lighting during the finals! It’s not like I want to actually be able to see whats going on or anything…
Detroit had the better field setup, it had to be nerf’ed somehow…
They constantly were pumping out fog, which made it neat for the stream (during times when Dean or Bossi were talking) because the lighting would get buffed and you would see the red and blue lights. However… this also in turn buffed the lighting and made it super strong when it came to matches on the field as you posted in that 2nd image.
However for people in-person it looked more like Bossi was in a cloud (the field was good though)

i dont think theres enough room for pits + the 6 fields at the ford field (correct me if i’m wrong). Only reason why it worked at St. Louis was that there was like a convention centre attached, and teams pits could be there instead.
however, i definitely would have preferred if worlds was at the ford field, since it had a much better atmosphere, and truly felt like you were attending a championship event.
You could do it. The alliance pits were in the center of the field in St. Louis with 8 fields, so it almost certainly could fit in along with the FTC pits. (Assuming they continue with having FTC and FRC at the same time)
Not sure what folks are complaining about, I thought the view was OK, bordering on pretty good. Some guy kept walking in front of me during the match though.
I think the “some guy” you’re talking about is at every event in the FRC. Maybe it’s the same guy, I don’t know.
I think they’re referring to the round-robin Einstein in Ford Field, not the entire event. They only did the last 2/3 matches of Einstein in Ford Field, and many are asking why all Einstein matches weren’t played there.
My suspicion is it would be a nightmare to move 24 teams the mile or so away with all their equipment. Moving the 8 teams for the finals is much more doable. Just my suspicion though.
We didn’t get seats in front of Einstein Field and had to watch it on the monitors… Only ALL the monitors were too far away! I would have had a better watching experience on my iPhone and at that point, I have to ask: “Is it even worth going to Ford Field?”
Interesting. We were up in the nosebleeds (PLENTY of seating around us too), and there were at least 4 monitors that we could easily see. Definitely better than St. Louis, where there was only one monitor, and from the upper deck the lighting trusses blocked the view of both the field and the monitor. I would take viewing in Ford Field over St. Louis any day.
I was musing to my team that it might be cool to do all of the Einstein matches (instead of just the finals) at the Cobo Centre. I actually preferred the energy from the long row of bleachers over the dark stands at the Edward Jones Dome.
If you were going to do it at Cobo, I wonder if FIRST could replace the unused fields with translucent screens, dim the lights, and mirror the Einstein Fields using Holographic Projection.
There were literally thousands of open seats to the right of the field open with a great view.
