Aluminum Square tubing

extrusions

1" Aluminum tubing

80/20 too HEAVY

Wayne Doenges

Aluminum tubing. Last year the team put wood inside the tubing some parts because we had weight to burn at the last minute.

Welded 1" Steel Angle, with an agressively pocketed 1/4" aluminum plate bolted to the top.

Bosch 30 x 30 mm

80-20 cross braces on both drive systems…oops.:frowning:

Oh and very swiss cheesed 1/4" aluminum panels all the way around!!!

Wait a minute…Is this tread implying there is supposed to be more than the chassis in the crate??? Oh man I have to…Ummmm…Ummm…I’ll be right back!!!

Thank god, we used bosch extrusion. Otherwise, we would have had a fun time, cause our design changed so many %%%% times!

All structural aluminum sytems are NOT created equal.

In the spirit of full disclosure: Our primary sponsor is the local distributor, item midwest. So, yes, our opinion is a bit subjective. However, we welcome side by side empirical comparisons.

Even though item is a growing name in the US, it is a huge player in Europe.

I encourage those interested in this topic to seek us out at the Motorola regionals or at Nationals. We are a rookie team, but with the help of item we built a pretty good all’round bot. (on time and within weight)
