FRC 1983 in Chicago at Manufacturing Expo

We were asked to represent one of our sponsors (Omax) at the manufacturing expo in Chicago so we crated up the robot for a long trip…(We are from Seattle) We have a team member and an alumni member there demonstrating last year’s robot in the student area.

Here is a short NBR piece that features us and the emphasis from the expo on trying to interest young students to manufacturing careers.

Bob,
I am going to have to talk to Diane, she works just upstairs. She does a nice job on this piece. NBR is leasing office space in our building. Are you here now?

No
My principal didn’t want me to go
We have an alumni member Navid Shafa and a student Liam Burke there along with the Omax staff. They both worked as interns at OMAX.

It was a nice piece. If you could get me a contact at NBR I would like to thank them for doing it.

Liam and Navid said they met some of the Wildstang crew there the other day.
Your team has always been an inspiration to us…

Bob,
NBR has a big website presence but the home office is in Florida. There is only the one correspondent, one shooter and a part timer they call in during heavy periods in the Midwest. I would think you can send something to Diane Eastabrook through the NBR website.

This was a great conference. My roomate went to do research for his job. He has showed me pictures and videos. Really serious manufacturing at this conference. KUKA and FANUC both had some of their best robots in the building. One robot even was designed as a poker dealer and interfaced with the players via an IPAD  .
