I was looking on the Blue Alliance recently and I saw that Team 930 the Mukwonago Bears’ 2008 robot had scored 11 laps in one match. But there might be another team that scored higher than that. Because any other video evidence is murky, and not much may be known out of YouTube.
Betting 148 scored more than 11 laps, along with some other exclusively lap only bots
I’d look at 102. I want to say they were the winners of the fun drag race held at Champs.
Yeah, the lap-runners would probably be the best place to look. 148, 102, not sure who else should be on that list anymore.
It was 103 that was in Galileo in 2008, not 102. Plus 102 and 148 never faced off against each other.
And who, exactly, says I was looking at Galileo 2008? I might have been looking at NEWTON where 102 was.
Drag race was division-agnostic. And you ain’t gotta face off directly against each other to compare.
Now I see why you said that. 102 scored 10 laps in one match, and possibly 12 in their previous one.
Some food for thought.
Some of the older mentors on our team say our robot was really fast. Theres a video of it doing almost three laps in auto out there somewhere.
Easier said than done diven that year’s control limitations.
A story from that year (and my first year in FIRST): My team (1747) smoked our IR board after the supply of such from Diversified systems dried up, leaving us with no way to use a remote during Hybrid period (it wasn’t a true Auto!). So we were stuck using such as Auto. At Great Lakes regional, we were in a match against 33 and 27 (two of several powehouses at that event)… through scouting, we knew precisely when 33 would be passing our starting spot during hybrid, so our programmers whipped up some code that would keep us parked until right before 33 would pass us, where we’d drive forward just enough to block their path (stopping them at 3 lines instead of the many more they’d usually get). Well… it worked, and somehow with that terrible robot we had our alliance won that match!
We still didn’t make elims (although we were first in line as a backup)… Still had a blast though. If only as a young Freshman I knew what giants and legends I was surrounded by then, at the final regional to be held in Michigan.
Nice story. Unfortunately, I was not alive in 2008, having joined team 8531 in late 2023. But if only I was there…
