FRC 2729 Scouting app system for the 2015-2016 season

Hello everyone, you may remember our app system from last year: http://www.chiefdelphi.com/forums/showthread.php?threadid=135153

Well everyone it is back again and better than ever. Our system again consists(so far) of two apps which do the following actions:

  • User app takes in data from the user input
  • Generates QR code of data
  • Master app scans and stores data into a database and a CSV file
  • Able to sort data based on certain categories

We are currently working on the following features:

  • Displaying team summaries and averages
  • Displaying a list of teams that would work well with you based on a query you define

Features this year that we are proud of are:

  • Apps are more user friendly
  • Nav menu used on master app for better user experience
  • User interface is more dynamic
  • Keeping in the spirit of no WiFi with QR codes

We will post regular updates to this thread as we make more and more progress.

Good luck everyone and clap clap whoosh!

This is awesome! I remember it from last year! Can’t wait for the new updates!

UPDATE:

We have completed our analysis for the summary(compiled numbers), average of the summary and all match data as well. We are nearing completion of the system!

clap clap whoosh!

This app is still set up for last years game. Will it be updated to the 2016 game anytime soon?

We have been working diligently to get the app finished. We have pushed the user application to the play store which can be downloaded at this link:

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.lrhsd.storm.user16

We plan to publish the master app today to the playstore

Will download will not open on android

Hi,
That is a great idea, thank you very much for sharing.

Some feedback:
I downloaded the non-master app, filled the team #, match and alliance. When I clicked “begin”, the app crashed. Happens every time (Motorola XT1225 Androd 5.0.2)
I hope this is useful. Good Luck!

Is there any chance you’ll be making a version of the master for Windows phones and Windows 10 devices? Having a computer to view the data would probably be easier than using a tablet. Just saying.

This probably a dumb question but will there be an iOS compatible version?

We apologize for the inconvience. I have tested the android application my own device and have not encountered the error you described. I recommend trying to reinstalling the application from the play store. Again, sorry for the inconvience and we will try to figure out the error

Also as a general note, we will not be able to make an ios version due to the price of a developers account and we do not have experience with windows phone development so more than likely we will not be able to make a windows phone or windows 10 version for this season. Sorry for any inconvience

Snoman:
What type of device do you have and what OS? A similar thing like this happened to one of our mentors

I have tried 3 different devices with the same result.
You don’t have anything to apologize for, our team would like to use your application and we’re very glad to provide this feedback. I have submitted the error logs when it crashed, I hope google delivers it to you.
Good luck!

I just downloaded the Storm Scouter and tried it. I get a message that says, “unfortunately Storm Scouter Radar 2015-2016 has stopped”. After the message the screen goes back to the home screen again.
I’m running Android v 5.0 on a Samsung Galaxy S5.
Looking forward to a fix soon so I can show it to the team.
Thanks for your work.

I have a Motorola Droid Turbo (XT1254), and it crashed as well after entering all of the data (which was REALLY sluggish)

Great job! I love the app so far, and will continue to mess around with it.

Is there a way to access the source code to customize it for teams needs? For example, if a team wanted to add in an option which asked the user to input information about the type of drive-train a robot has, could that team access the code and add the option into the app? Put simply, is the app customizable?

We have fixed the error. The app was calling too much memory and thus it crashed. We have fixed this error and will push to the play store very soon. We apologize for any inconvience.

We keep the code private on our github right now. If you would like to see an edit made, comment here on chief delphi or on the playstore

Instant crash on Samsung GS5.

We have fixed the error that has occurred on the app and are working on an update for the play store. It will be up soon
