FRC 3061 Huskie Robotics - 2024 Preseason Build Thread

Leadership Structure

We are a very large team (~125 students) so we have about 25 student leaders, broken down into 4 branches - robot, business, strategy, and project management, each led by a captain. Below is our structure with explanation for positions you might not be familiar with.

Accountant: Manages team finances with Mentors
Materials Manager: Manage ordering of parts and inventory

Systems Integration Specialist: works with the 4 FPMs to distribute chassis space along with motor allotment, manages full robot integration points.

Feature Project Managers: Manage one feature/subsystem of our robot (intake, shooter, arm, drivetrain, climber, etc.)

HuskyADAPT Manager: Manages project where we convert toys to be more accessible for students with disabilities. Look out for a future post on this.

FLL Mentor Coordinator: Assigns mentors to our 41 school district FLL teams


Strategic Software lead: oversees the creation and management of our scouting app, SPOT
Strategic Management lead: oversees the creation of our design requirements at the start of the season and works with drive team to determine match strategy

Leadership tidbits

  • Students apply for leadership positions in May and positions are decided by mentors.
  • All digital information is stored in a shared google drive as well as in our task management software (Trello, ClickUp, Linear).
  • We maintain lessons learned and Keep, Fix, Try documents to learn from and reference to.
  • We make changes to the structure as needed over the years. Recently, we added SIS as a new captain position, added smaller leadership roles like HuskyADAPT manager and 3D printing manager to create ownership, and having separate strategy leads.
