FRC Team 3181, the Pittsford Panthers, is based out of Pittsford Sutherland High school, and we have students from both Pittsford Sutherland, and Pittsford Mendon High schools. We are excited to join this year’s Open Alliance! Our team has grown in size this year, and we are very excited to compete in FRC Reefscape! Many of our students are stepping up to take on more leadership roles to improve our team.
Team Updates
Our team made it very far in the competitions last season. We got the opportunity to go to the World Championship in Houston. We’ve definitely seen very promising improvements that we hope to continue this year.
We have 2 new 3D printers, Flash Forge Adventure 5M Pros, which will help immensely with our rapid prototyping. We also plan on acquiring a new CNC router table.
Team Goals
Many of our goals carry over from last year:
- Create a safe and welcoming environment for new students
- Do more extensive training for new sub-team members
- Chose drive team early, and start practicing early
- Improve our robot’s reliability for the knock-out rounds
- Go back to Worlds!
Competitions
We’re currently planning on going to our local regional competition, Finger Lakes, and then to NY Tech Valley.
Off Season Projects
Our team has been working on multiple internal improvements, one of the most significant of which is a new robot cart (I’ll have a follow up post with details on this soon).
FIRST Lego League Teams!
Our team has been doing a lot of outreach this year, several of our members have volunteered to start several FLL teams at a local elementary school. We are also planning to start more teams at another local schools. We help engage the students in STEM areas, such as building Legos, and programing their submarines.
