We look forward to posting through this channel all of our design, build and iterations of the 2024 Robot! Thanks to the Open Alliance for adding us to their discord!
Just a quick update after two weeks of the build season. Due to weather and school policy we have had build 3 out of 6 build sessions. With that said we are still in good condition. Our Chassis has been designed and built using the SDS Mk4 modules for this season. We have also built all of the field practice pieces. Students took turns as the human player with the note and tried to hit the microphone.
We are in the thick of it putting manufactured parts together and also doing some human player note throwing as we see this as important task for repeatable action by our human player. https://youtu.be/9xIeQCdC0Hg
All of our production pieces have been manufactured and powder coated. We are now in the process of assembly. We have the chassis completely wired and will be using the Phoenix Tuner X to set values and producing our swerve drive code today. We ran into a slight issue with spacing of our motor to run the tilt of the shooter but we have fixed that in our cad and will be making the necessary changes this evening.
End of Week 5 Update: We are behind but have a plan to catch up. Ran into some build issues and spent the time to resolve those issues. We will have the robot build hopefully completed today Valentine’s day! So funny enough our two Head Mentors have an ongoing discussion about weight savings since we are on a swerve chassis. One of the Head Mentors decided to have some fun and got to the build facility early last Saturday and implemented a weight reduction solution. Please see the photo.
We have the robot 95% together and coding has been started. We have tested out the swerve drive and everything works as needed but we had to make sure there was a ramp rate so that the load on the motors slowly starts instead of instant. We have also weighed the robot without the lifting mechanism and we are at 97.7 lbs. L
