Hello and welcome to VOLTEC Robotics build thread. It is a honor to be part of #openalliance . We are looking fordward to contribute with all of you and we are always happy to help and get to know more teams .
FRC 6647 - VOLTEC Robotics is a PrepaTec’s Team which has been runiing for 7 years now. And our Mission is to to be a team that stands out through the performance of its members both in the areas of science and in the community, and invite young Mexicans to recognize the value of technology and become part of this community.
And this year is a great one. We grew about 84% going from 24 to 125 students without counting the children From Escuelita VOLTEC.
Okaaaay so december (about a week and a bit more to start the season):
So, our workshop was being remodeled and a few machines came and were installed.
Last week we focused on learning as much as we could from the experts on the Machines and we started testing the Machines.
So with all of this. this week we are focusing mainly on moving all the tools and materials to the new workshop and getting the right person to be supervisors for each machine. This supervisors should be granting permission to people wanting/requiring to use the machinery, as well as supervising the person who’s gonna use it.
This week we will be having our last workshops pre-kick off.
Monday:
disassemble the chassis
planning the rebuild.
Tuesday:
cleaning gearboxes
assemble the chassis.
Wednesday:
placing chains
planning for the electronics.
Thursday:
Finish up the electronics of the chassis
test if it turn on lol.
Friday:
Programming
Testing.
This workshop is mainly about putting the basics in practice but we thought it may help for integrating people.
During the last month, we have been working on learning all about path planning and autonomous trajectory for our robots. Although it was a hard and long road, we finally managed to create efficient, reliable autonomous trajectories for our robot. You can find the github link right here
Furthermore, a new optimized library for quick and easy command-based programming is in the works. The goal of this library is reduce most of the unnecessary object-initialization and configs. Furthermore, it will include remarkable features, as the ability to set Rev’s Blinkin LEDS to a specific color depending on the errors the motor throws at you.
It also includes OI and accesibility features, such as a more customizable driving experience for both drivers.
The library is still in the works, but you can take a look here
Through this 4 weeks, we have be working on our arm mechanism. What we currently have is a pivoting arm that extends. For the arm itself, we took the climber in a box design and adapted it to our needs
Hi, Ernesto reporting here.
During the last weeks we were able to prototipe a pivot point mechanism which we think it could work really great combined with the climber in a box mechanism.
We are working on applying it to the final robot and we hope we get it tested out really soon.
And with that we conclude our 2023 season. We worked a lot during this offseason to create this robot. We were greatly inspired by the team 4414 HighTide for this robot. It was a very fun challenge to design using only pictures and some explanations from their posts and then manufacturing all the required parts in our workshop. For this robot we tried to measure ourselves in a time period similar to the regular build season and I think the results were very good. After this, we participated in TidalTumble all the way in Ventura, California where we had the opportunity to meet a lot of great people, including the team members of HighTide with whom we could talk about our robot and learn a lot from theirs.
In the other hand, we hosted a few events in our city including Women of Tomorrow, an event dedicated to the women in steam, FVS, an event dedicated to kids from our community and our latest event “Tapaton” in which we separated bottle caps to help the kids with cancer.
This offseason was a great opportunity for growth, both personal and for the team. And we are heading to the new season with great expectations.
