Just out of curiosity, what specific type of surgical tubing are you using to pull back the passive climber hooks?

As well, why the choice for dual flywheels that are the same size (as opposed to smaller/larger in front/back)?

What was the design process behind the turret cable chain + tensioner?

Hiya! I’m not exactly sure I understand your question correctly but those are just 3/8” surgical tubings. (We made their tension more intense by stretching them out and zip tying the ends but overall we just used what we found in our shop).

As for the flywheels, I believe we wanted same size wheels instead of smaller ones in the front/back to maintain a longer contact with the ball and more stable compression. Also having the same part on multiple places on our robot just makes packing for tournaments more easily, since we could just bring one type of spare fly wheel and call it a day

So we took inspirations from 4414 and 254’s turret wire management system when we designed our own. Last season (2020), we had a cable just dangling off of our turret and that has caused some mechanical problems during matches, so we decided to go with a constant force spring + igus chain wire protector approach this year. It was the most effective way we forsaw given our resources (as much as I would’ve loved to have sheet metals with a c-bracket ledge to secure the cable protectors into place we have no way of manufacturing that) The constant force spring re-centers the igus chain relatively fast and we are able to effectively spin our turret at a high speed.

Thats exactly what I was asking, thanks, that’ll help a lot with our mess around offseason bots!

Hi there! Can you let us know if you’re still planning to attend Ramp Riot? Would love to see you there!
