FRC 9106 - Spires Weekly Adventures 2023 - Week of 7/17

So for the month of July we narrowed down our meet days to once a week. Summer is a busy “non-school” time of freedom. We are meeting on our normal Thursday nights for a couple hours. Today we had a couple new (and newer) students join us. Throughout the night they worked on coding and CAD. They asked questions and we tried to keep them engaged with stories of our season, technical description of components and intriguing fun questions about them. Coaches took turns going through different parts of our meeting.

In our team there is always a few people doing busy work, organizing, strategizing and doing random things. Does every other team have this in their group? What are some different things/activities your team does to keep everyone engaged?

Looking forward to next week

We have also been hosting meetings over the summer (Tuesday and Thursday evenings for us), but things have also kind of slowed down. Mostly we’re just working on miscellaneous projects like building a new robot cart or developing new teaching plans for pre season. We want people to be engaged in projects if they come to meetings, but we also understand that many students are traveling right now or just otherwise taking a break, so they can’t make it. It’s been an especially busy year for us because we had at least half of the team graduate, including all of our officers. We are making good progress with the important things though.
