FRC 9106 - Spires Weekly Adventures 2023 - Week of 8/14 (Coaches met on 8/13)

This was a fun week to be a coach. On Sunday (pre-week) we had a coaches meeting at Coach Mike’s cottage. Boating, swimming, fishing and lots of other fun. Coach Lucas and I had the privilege of being pulled around the lake at break neck speeds on a tube behind the boat. Only fell a couple of times, Captain Coach Mike was being gracious with his driving. We enjoyed a pot luck dinner and played in the sun and water until dark. Thanks Coach Mike for showing us a good time.

Tuesday we showed up to an event for some incoming freshman this fall. We brought robot down from our 5th floor space at school down to the cafeteria. It was a dinner so there was a little hesitancy to participate and drive our machine, but once a few girls came over they didn’t put down the controls. They were laughing and trying out new things with the robot. They seemed to have a blast and we’re hoping some of them may join us soon (fingers crossed).

We have been starting to get social media up more and more, a few posts so far and hoping that it continues to grow. A couple of our parents set up all of our accounts and we are grateful.

Thursday meeting was Coach Lucas, Coach Mike and me. We discussed a few ideas and things that need to be done and then each worked on a few projects that needed to be done. I went through the AndyMark tank drive kits and inventoried all of the parts. We aren’t missing any!!! Next week we will probably have the students work on assembling them, we’ll see. Coach Lucas worked on some CAD things to get us ready for our build start. Coach Mike worked on a lot of communication and organizing.

Let us know what you’re working on.

Our team literally did the exact same thing today, except we were in the gym. It seemed to go okay for us too!
