Just in case you missed the 23 tweets, 12 emails, 7 blog posts and 2 carrier pigeons we sent directly to the home of every FIRST Robotics Competition mentor on this planet, the deadline to submit your event preferences is tomorrow, Thursday, September 28th, Noon, Eastern Time!
Don’t know what I’m talking about? (Seriously?) Check out the Registration System User Guide and FAQ here.
Do know what I’m talking about but don’t know what time noon, Eastern Time is in your part of the planet? Just enter your city here.
Once preferences close at noon (Eastern, not noon wherever you are), they are closed! There is no way for us to accept late preferences without delaying the event assignment process for every team in FRC, and we don’t plan to do that. So, please, get those preferences in, and double check them to make sure they’re what you want.
Ooh, It’s going to be an exciting day tomorrow!
Frank
Frank, what is the average air speed velocity of the pigeons you used? I haven’t received either of mine yet… I can only imagine how much longer folks in California will have to wait before getting theirs!
Are these pigeons trans-Atlantic capable? I would hope so, otherwise my pigeons are probably shark food somewhere around Bermuda
I was wondering where those darned winged rats came from
I got my pigeon Monday… Don’t know what your problems are.
Also had my FIRST lottery number on the letter. Those are sent by pigeon only. Or at least that is what the letter said…
We all joke but there are teams that won’t be registered come tomorrow. Even today I sent emails to remind some new teams. Some of them won’t have received their pigeon or seen any of the actual communications. That frustrates me so I’m glad FIRST has communicated this out so thoroughly.
I would love to see if there is a correlation between when teams signed up and the various communications that were sent out. Might make for an interesting graph.
If FIRST had a good way of telling the community of new teams prior to event registration local veteran teams could help them find their pigeon and other things.

*Sorry, no team name or schools, just a dumb list of locations. You can find the other part by digging through the Team Search (https://www.firstinspires.org/team-event-search), if so inclined.
**FIRST doesn’t provide any contact info (thankfully), but if you had welcoming material you probably can send directly to the school secretary/administration with c/o the Robotics team, for many of the teams.
Add one more email…
Frankly, any team that missed their registration because “we didn’t see the email” needs to be asked if they updated all their contact info, or were paying attention.
There will always be someone who misses it completely.
Wouldn’t be surprised if there was as a small group that rolled in from our area late last night/this morning. The week 1 District in our area had to change location (and moved dates by a day) since the first day preferences opened so most of us were waiting for an announcement. New location was announced last night around 6 and we got our preferences in around 9:45pm. Imagine a few teams were able to make a final decision late last night or first thing this morning once official word spread.
