[FRC Blog] Kickoff: Around the Corner!

Has xrc been supported/recognized by FIRST? Seems like they have access to at least the field cad, but also likely the game rules.

5 pounds in less than a cubic foot, that’s a head scratcher for sure.

It was part of the KOP last year, and they had a basic robot to play the game at kickoff too! While it doesn’t implement all the rules (I think you can hold extra balls, etc), it’s enough to play the game.

One can easily get the weights of all the other random stuff and get a really good estimate of the weight of the game pieces.

Box of ping pong balls

in Rapid React in xRC, you can pick up extra balls but if you hold them for more than three seconds you start getting fouls. Just like in the real game, minus the human referee.

Radioactive rods for nuclear power? Rod? Charge up?

My work here is done.

Also how much does one of those weight roughly?

The photo album is also nearly 100 MB smaller as well.
So even if things were more simple builds there is not as much to look at?

fuel rods? :eyes:

I’m sold.

Looking at a game piece or two thats around .95lb - 1.25lbs from my super scientific analysis. Most of the weight is actually accurate, I can’t get accurate pin weight (unless someone wants so send me that info).

All 12in x 4in foam rollers end up at about .35lbs each. FIRST usually only gives 1-2 game pieces in recent years, and there could be two game pieces here (it’s been a hot minute since we’ve had one).

Everyone’s going way into the foam cylinder thing, but I’d like to state that the teaser explicitly specified that the things in the video were ā€œpower orbsā€ (granted, the teaser may be lying). Additionally, do you know what fits into a small container like the one listed (alongside all the other stuff)? Uninflated balls.

Additional Theory

A weight difference of .971?
coincidence-think
This means that the game piece will be like a spartan-style helmet or a custom PCB

For anyone who has order a plush or foam thing in recent years it has become very common for them to be shipped vacuume sealed. This makes them a fraction of the size and slightly lighter. I got a standard teddy bear for my nephew last year and when i received it it was less than an inch thick.

A ā€œ1 piece set of game piecesā€ still gets pluralized, so no guarantee.

Those season specific game box dimensions are identical to the shipping info for the BOC I got from Woot last month…

Hence the game object is random stuff that Woot has in the back room!

I just really hope the game piece is not another inflatable ball

Hopefully not another inflatable ball that you have to shoot into a goal.

I’d be fine with an inflatable ball that is pick and place.
