Don’t forget, the second round of event preference submissions closes tomorrow, that’s Thursday, October 19, at Noon Eastern Time. We won’t be accepting late submissions, so be sure to get yours in on time!
We will be running the event assignment engine shortly after submissions close. As soon as we’ve verified everything has run as planned, we will be publishing the results. This may take three or four hours, so please be patient. Teams will be notified by email when the results are ready.
Some Data
As of Tuesday morning:
1,910 teams had submitted their second event preferences
42.6% preferenced a single event
29.7% preferenced two events
17.5% preferenced three events
The rest of the teams preferenced up to and including 11 (!) events
Remember you can make changes on your preference list up to the deadline!
Love to know the story on the team that went to 11. Was it simply 1 more than 10 and they were testing the system, a team from MI that actually has 11 events that aren’t that far away, or just a team that is going to have to hop on a plane for their second event no matter what, so it not the same decision as a team that can reasonably drive to 2 or 3 events and beyond that a charter bus or plane will be required.
3082 put down 7 choices as we were pretty sure that we wouldn’t get into one of the Duluth regionals, and others weren’t that much further away. While there were closer ones than these (like Iowa or 7 Rivers) we didn’t want back to back regionals. We got our 7th choice, so I guess it was worth it!

Now I hope we get some data about how the assignments worked out as far as the % of teams that were assigned to their X pick on their list.
For us we decided that we would just put down the one event we really preferred. However we are in a district so we are guaranteed a second event if we find out the wait list is long and we are at the end we could decide when registration reopens.
There are only four NC district events(excluding championship). If they made it to eleven, know that they broke the system at four. I still wouldn’t call it impossible, but quite unlikely.
if you look through the registration thread, you’ll see that about 1650 teams got assigned to a second event today. The remainder that preferenced got put on a waitlist somewhere.
TBA doesn’t update immediately. Try FRCLinks instead, that’ll get you to the FIRST site for either your team or your event.
As I tell the FF players: TBA is NOT an official source, so if you don’t get a team that you wanted because they aren’t attending, and you made your list from TBA, that’s YOUR problem!
