53 Regionals, 63 District Events, and 8 District Championships down, one awesome *FIRST *Championship to go! I can’t believe Championship is next week; I hope everyone is as excited as I am!
We know the FRC teams look forward to learning their preliminary Divisional assignments and Qualification Schedules for Championship. This year, we’re trying something new. One of our staffers, Matt Pilotte, FRC Electrical Engineering Manager, thought it might be interesting if we had one of the FRC community webcasts build a show around the release of those preliminary Divisional assignments and Qualification Schedules. Many of the staff thought that was a great idea, so, that’s what we’re doing!
At about 8PM EST this Friday, April 22nd, we will be publicly releasing the preliminary Divisional assignments and Qualification Schedules on the *FIRST *website. At the same time, starting at 8PM EST, our friends at First Updates Now (FUN) will be hosting a one hour special, looking at those assignments and schedules and having special guests weigh in on such things as comparative Divisional strengths and exciting matches to look for.
You can tune in to the live FUN broadcast here. But if you must miss it (WHAT?!?), you can find the archived show here.
This is certainly going to be an interesting show. Thanks, FUN, for partnering with us in making the release of this information a little more entertaining!
Wait till Friday!!!?? What!? And I am happy I don’t have to watch the show or wait till the end of the show. Nothing against the show or any, just not a fan of all the talking.
I’m a fan of most of these shows, but one of my favorite things about them is I can watch them on my own time, I don’t have to be available at a specific time (which is hindered further by the fact that I am three hours behind the east coast). I am behind any effort to support these shows, but I don’t like having the release of the information delayed for a Friday special.
I will admit that this idea gives HQ a bit more time to get the waitlist teams sorted out and understand if part of the decision was made to allow the team facing staff to breath a little.
We are actually hoping that we will be able to get callers to help drive the show as we will be doing admittedly a lot on the fly ourselves. We are happy to just help generate some excitement about champs and hope that for those who are interested will have fun with it. Justin and I will be at Vex Worlds ourselves doing the broadcast live from the hotel along with our guest Karthik. More to come after our Tuesday show (let’s do one show at a time), but a big thank you to FIRST for their partnership.
