This is Ron Falcone, Director of Strategic Sourcing and Services at FIRST®, and I’m excited to be a guest today on the *FIRST *Robotics Competition Blog to share with you the launch of our 2018 event housing program.
*FIRST *understands that booking your lodging for competitions can be a stressful part of the season. We’ve heard your horror stories regarding teams qualifying and not being able to find housing, or a volunteer upon arrival to their hotel being told the hotel overbooked and they no longer had a place to sleep. With the help of Experient, we have been continuously working to remove this burden from our community and guarantee safe, reliable, and affordable housing options while allowing you to focus on what is important – your event participation, Coopertition® and having fun! We have another exciting change this year for those living in the Pacific Northwest district. PNW *FIRST *Competition District has very graciously agreed to participate in a pilot event housing program for the *FIRST *Championship, Houston. Together we are working to offer a more robust, reliable and efficient way to book hotel rooms for our dual Championship events under the *FIRST *housing umbrella. More importantly, this pilot event will guarantee rooms for teams qualifying late in the event season that fits within their budgets, desired locations and hotel preferences.
