We are very sorry to announce that Jessica Jankowitsch will be leaving the role of FIRST Robotics Competition Co-Chief Volunteer Coordinator. Over the past year in her role, Jess has been a very valuable resource to all of FIRST but especially to Rookie Volunteer Coordinators. Jess has worked hard to make Championship volunteering a smooth and enjoyable transition from one Championship to two. While Jess will no longer be Co-Chief Volunteer Coordinator, she will be continuing to help FIRST with her amazing work through FIRST in Texas.
We are happy to announce that we have a new Co-Chief Volunteer Coordinator for the 2018 FRC season and for the FIRST Championship.
Sarah Plemmons brings 11 years of FIRST experience to the role of Co-Chief Volunteer Coordinator. Sarah started as a mentor for her son’s FRC team, Team 1902 Exploding Bacon, in 2006. Once Sarah’s son graduated from high school she expanded her involvement to supporting the Florida Regional (now the Orlando Regional) as a volunteer, a member of the Regional Planning Committee and a member of the 501c3 Florida FIRST Robotics Education Foundation. She has been a Championship Volunteer Coordinator since 2009 working both in the pits and on the fields as well as assisting with assignments prior to the big events. While the Orlando Regional is her home event, she has helped launch several other Regional events.
Sarah joined Martin Marietta, now Lockheed Martin, as an engineer in 1980 and is now an Operations Analyst. She graduated from Auburn University with a degree in Electrical Engineering. #FIRSTLikeAGirl
Please join us in welcoming our new Co-Chief Volunteer Coordinator!
Sarah is an amazing VC and helped a lot with the VCing at Champs last year. She will do an great job this year as well. Jess, I’ll miss you and love you. Don’t be a stranger and come over and say hi at the GRB.
Sarah Plemmons has always been a great inspiration for our team. From being one of our founding mentors to doing an amazing job putting on the Orlando Regional, she pours her heart and soul into FIRST. She is going to be an amazing Co-VC!
Good luck and keep doing #FIRSTLikeAGirl Sarah!
Thank you Jess for your service. If anyone wants to learn more about Jess and her FIRST experience, read her “How I Work” interview here: http://blog.spectrum3847.org/2013/08/jess-jankowitsch-this-is-how-i-work.html
Even though I am not from Texas, I have had the pleasure of knowing Jess for many years. There are very few people I have met that can match Jess’s enthusiasm, energy and dedication to FIRST. Sarah has really big shoes to fill (and I’m sure she will do an admirable job as well as CCVC).
Thank you, Jess.
Jess, thank you for all the hard work you’ve given to FIRST in this role! :ahh: And Sarah, great to hear you’ll be working in this new role!
I got to meet Sarah on Carson last year in St. Louis, and saw the great job she did up close. Congratulations!
And thank you Jess for all of your contributions.
