Entrepreneurship Award submissions are due Thursday, February 16, 2017, 3pm Eastern Time.

Entrepreneurship submissions must be submitted by a designated student awards submitter.

To find out how to designate a student as an award submitter please check out this link. Designating a student as an award submitter is a multi-step process, so it’s best to do this before you are ready to submit, so you can ensure you’ll be ready when the time comes.

FIRST Dean’s List Award submissions are due Thursday, February 16, 2017, 3pm Eastern Time.

The Dean’s List Award must be submitted by the team’s Lead Coach/Mentor 1 or Lead Coach/Mentor 2 who is not related to either of the students OR Lead Coach/Mentor 1 or 2 can invite another adult to be the Dean’s List Award submitter. The Dean’s List Award is submitted through the Team Registration System.

Check out some new Dean’s List Award resources here.

Note: Non-District team Mentors and semi-finalists will receive an email after the award portal closes stating at which Regional event the semi-finalist will interview. If they are from a District team, they will receive an email stating that they will receive further instructions from their District indicating at which event they will interview. The emails will also include a copy of the nomination letter in order to prepare the semi-finalist for the interview.

Anyone know how a Lead Coach/Mentor designates another mentor as a Deans List Awards Submitter? Tried going to all the roster options (including where student award submitter is designated) and the Dean’s List submission page, no dice.

You invite them like they are a new mentor, but the category is award submitter instead of mentor

Thanks. That’s super intuitive </sarcasm>

Anyone having trouble with the “FRC Deans List Award” page? I need to update something and the page shows only the Youth and GPA fields in the middle pane. The address fields will flash when you tell it to update and when the page is first painted but quickly collapse, too quickly to enter any information.

Also what do you Texans who have 4+ point grading scales enter for GPA?

TIA

We use an online GPA converter - Google is your friend

OR

Divide by 25.

95.01/25 = 3.8 on a 4.0 scale

it is 4.0 versus 4.0+, not 100 versus 4.0. Even scaling from 5 to 4 is not the same thing. Regular classes are on a 4.0 scale but AP classes are not. So a person with a 4.0 but taking regular classes could be making straight As. I wonder how colleges compare apples and oranges.

I believe a lot of schools use a weighted scale for AP classes.

Florida uses GPA and HPA for this GPA weighs all classes the same (A=4 B=3 etc) for HPA though it goes Regular classes stay the same, Honors is multipled by 1.25 (A=5 B=3.75) and AP is 1.5 (A=6 B=4.5) so we have both available, possibly Texas is the same. If not divide by 1.5 and in the future ask for a transcript of the deans list nominee, thats what we do.

Anyone else worried that they didn’t get a Dean’s List submitted email after 3 o’clock? Am I just being impatient?

Fun fact: I applied to 7 different colleges my senior year and had a different GPA for every single one of them. All of these GPAs were different from the GPA my high school gave me.

By some combination of class rank, SAT/ACT scores, and AP/SAT subject test scores. Also, they have a profile on each high school, which tells them the details of the grading scale.

I still haven’t received. Last year’s was delayed about an hour but I’m sure we’ll hear soon - or not - but I’m sure many other people are probably in the same boat.

Still haven’t gotten anything; I’ve been reloading my inbox incessantly.

I was relieved to see others haven’t received a notification yet. The lack of confirmation is making me nervous so I appreciate to know that there others waiting.

Yeah still nothing. 7 hours past already. Maybe they just don’t intend to send them?

The submission is through the new tims system this year and if y’all noticed, it did say that it will automatically submit the last saved draft of the submissions at 3PM EST. I assumed that it submitted when the box disappeared, but my fearful caveman brain does have me paranoid over no official notice. Last year the students got emails as soon as I submitted them and this year they did not tell me they received the same email…

It was said in the blog post that there would be email confirmations sent to the mentors…still haven’t received anything. Not liking this automatically submits system.

Maybe there should be a competition, or contest, where websites were given a set of rules and requirements to show that they can read and execute the conditions of the contract?

Wait a minute, is that too meta?

I received the confirmation email about 30 minutes ago. What a relief! Definitely not a fan of the “automatic submission” model. At the very least, I wish there was consistency across the board for award submissions (all the student submitted awards still require a manual click of the “submit” button).
