Website Transition and Blog Comments

**Written by FIRST Staff, 2015 Dec 19

As we continue to transition to the new website with all its capabilities, we wanted to let you know that comments are live on the *FIRST *Robotics Competition Blog! This is great news for our community as we close in on Kickoff so we can continue to have conversations with each other in the public forum.

We have shut down the commenting capabilities on the archived blog (i.e. the usfirst.org site). Don’t worry, if you have questions or comments from the archived blog, please feel free to ask them on the firstinspires.org program blog, and simply reference the blog post in your comment or question.

We know we still have a lot more work to do in order to make this website as rich with information as the archived site. We appreciate your continued patience. In the meantime, we welcome your comments to the blog

I really hope they’ll work on getting links to the old site to point to the same information on the new one. There are so many broken links on the internet because of the redirect.

I find it very interesting that in the event search section the default distance is 100 miles and in fact the max distance is 100 miles. We are on the VA / NC border and requested to be allowed to compete in the NC district due to geographic location to the events and were denied. Now when I search for events the only ones that show up are NC events  and all of them show up. Looks like the designer of the site also thinks you should compete at events within 100 miles.

You’d think it would be a simple .htaccess rule to redirect 404’d URLs from www.usfirst.org/whatever –> archive.usfirst.org/whatever.
