Tonight, at The Tech Awards Gala in Santa Clara, California, Dean will be presented with the James C. Morgan Global Humanitarian Award. This award “honors individuals whose broad vision and leadership are helping address humanity’s greatest challenges.”
Read more about this prestigious award including the write up about Dean – with, of course, a spotlight on FIRST!
That has happened, very VERY rarely. Big awards (ex: anything where you would meet the President), and his big brother’s wedding. That’s about it. I bet if it happened this time, it’ll be in FIRST’s photos from the event. So if that’s what you’re really interested in here, that’s where to look.
More than the evening’s fashion, I’m so excited that DEKA’s projects (you know, the ones that *aren’t *the Segway) are getting more and more attention lately. Life-saving medical devices, life-changing assistive devices, and water solutions for the third world are far more important than a toy.
Dean being recognized for his efforts sure makes me a very proud FIRSTer, DEKA intern, and -most of all- niece. Congrats, Dean.
Congratulations Dean! I can think of no one else more deserving of this award, both for your DEKA projects and for creating the amazing program we know as FIRST.
