Einstein Update

Even though we haven’t mentioned it for some time, the FRC staff has been hard at work on the ‘Next Actions’ listed on the Einstein Investigation Report released in July. You can find an update on our progress here: http://www.usfirst.org/uploadedFiles/Robotics_Programs/FRC/Game_and_Season__Info/2013/Einstein_NextSteps_Update_18Dec2012.pdf

Game Hint Status

I’ve seen speculation on the forums regarding when the game hint (or the ‘next’ game hint, whichever camp you’re in) will be released. Well, I’m looking at a game hint right now, and, wow! That is one nice game hint. But we’re not quite ready to release it yet. We’ll be doing that on 12/21. Feel free to speculate, if you wish, as to why we’re releasing a game hint on the same day the Mesoamerican Long Count calendar ends, but please keep ‘coincidence’ as one of the explanations you consider.

I’ll blog again soon.

Well, I believe this is the first time FIRST actually told us when they’ll release a hint. And hey, it happens to be on the most common day they release one, too!

And it seems like they made a logo for the Einstein Investigation Report. :yikes:

Game Hint Hint Thread

Clearly they’re releasing the game hint on 12/21/12 because they know the world’s going to end, and they want to keep FIRSTers happy and distracted until the very end.

It sounds like they’ve been putting a lot of work into increasing the ability for the field and teams to debug problems quickly, thank you FRC staff!

Also, Practice Matches and sensor calibration for Einstein teams is good stuff

Einstein practice matches is a great addition and one that the FRC community heavily pushed for.

Shhhhhhhhhh, it’ll all be over quickly.

The work they’re doing on the wireless system is a great thing. I’m crossing my fingers and hoping for the smoothest year ever for field communications. If that happens, I’ll consider that to be a silver lining to last year’s bad Einstein situation.

I used to wonder if the FRC staff would read the CD game hint posts and just laugh to themselves…now I know they do.

I think some of diagnostics tools discussed in the Einstein update refer to the stuff us Beta Testers have been able to play around with, which is awesome because I really think the FIRST community will like the Driver Station Log Viewer. The extra practice time is also an excellent idea.
