FRC CAN bus broadcast message docs


I’m looking for documentation on the CAN bus broadcast messages that FRC defines. I found a list of the messages here: FRC CAN Device Specifications — FIRST Robotics Competition documentation but that’s all I could find. I assume there must be a more detailed spec somewhere that device manufacturers would use to know what actions to implement for each message.

Does anyone know where to find this information?


As far as I know, there aren’t any additional public docs beyond that one. However, I don’t think it matters, as I think the only ones in actual use are the disable broadcast and the heartbeat (which technically isn’t a broadcast). Otherwise vendors define their own custom proprietary messages in their namespace.

For the disable broadcast, do you know if any response is required from the devices on the bus to confirm they have received the message?
