A couple of weeks ago, I made a post looking for a camcorder with which to film a match at MSC, in an attempt to replicate the look of 2000s, iGeneration FRC. I wasn’t able to locate one, but I was able to use my DSLR to still record a video and then post-produce it in an attempt to recreate the look that I was going for.
I have uploaded it below for your viewing pleasure. Thank you @MOCTA1189 also for linking the tutorial that I used as a basis for the work I did.
OMG… I have flashbacks to watching my raw footage from 2013… You nailed the effect! Even going back to watching pre 2010s footage this is definitely well done. The ratio, the shaking, the ref blocking half of the shot… Beautiful work
Edit: did you even match the resolution to what those Tape to Digital cameras were doing at that time? We had “FireWire” transfer cables from some mid 2000s camera to film on even in 2013 so it was not HD but like 480p or i? Still seriously awesome!
This is…perfect. But what a way to tell me I’ve been in FRC so long that alumni need tutorials to mimic my retro feel as a throwback exercise! Shudder.
Thanks! I downscaled the sequence to 640x480 (didn’t touch the interlacing so I think it’s 480p). I considered doing 720 but thought that might be anachronistic for the specific era I was going for
