Hey y’all, just had a quick question about the driver station numbers on the field. I’m trying to program auton to automatically take the data from the FMS and know what auton to perform and I’m just trying to make sure I have the right number for each driver station. As of right now I think 1 is on the Power Port side and 3 is the Loading Bay.
The stations are numbered left to right as if you are standing behind the driver wall, looking out into the field.

Why does your auton depend on what driver station your drivers are in?

During Quals you don’t get to choose what driver station your in. Unless I’m mistaken doesn’t your robot have to be in front of your driver station? This year on the other side of the field but I didn’t think you got to choose where to put your bot.
You can choose where you put your bot on the initiation line, just not which station you are driving from.
So your allowed to put your robot anywhere along the initiation line doesn’t have to be in front of your driver station?
Example if I’m driver station 1 I’m allowed to put the robot near driver station 3? (Along the initiation line)

You just need to discuss with your alliance partners about where you are going to place your robot. Please discuss with them when you are in queue, not when you are standing on the field holding a 150lb robot arguing about where you are going to place your respective bots.

Yes, I would definitely make this an option on the dashboard and NOT automatically configured by the code unless it is simply a default, otherwise you may have a bad time if you need to switch bot positions. You can find more information on SmartDashboard here and shuffleboard here.

Yea the only reason I was going to have it automatically do it was because I thought your robot had to be in front of your driver station but I’ll keep the manual selection due to you being able to place wherever on the initiation line. Thank you.
