We’re a new team and we’ve been trying to figure out where the FRC Framework is. We found an instruction manual that says the FRC Framework should show up as an option on the Getting Started menu of Labview. We selected the “Install Everything” option and assumed we got everything, but there is no FRC Framework option on our Getting Started menu. If anyone can help, it will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.
There are 3 Labview updates that must also be installed and are not provided on the Labview install media in the KOP. You must go to usfirst.org KOP page to find the 3 updates to install.
They are as follows:
Labview Update 4.0
Labview Utilities
Labview Drivers Station
I had the same problem when we installed Labview 2011 to our classmate, but don’t worry, that was just a difference between this year’s and the 2010 version last year.
Alright, when you get to the opening screen, you should see an option called “More.” When you select it, you will see new project options with a preview screen. From there, you should see a folder called “Project from Wizard” under the Project and VI folders. Single click the “FRC cRIO Robot Project” option and you should see the full tree on the right screen (including a begin, auton. indep., teleop, vision proces., disabled, periodic, etc. under the Team Code folder).
When you press OK, you can type in the name of your project and should see the “Robot Framework” button selected. Make sure this is selected BEFORE you continue, or you will have to wait A LOT to be able to delete the mistake from the computer.
I’m on a different computer, so I won’t be able to show you screenshots of what these look like, but I should be able to have them available in a little bit.
You also have to change your cRIO IP address to 10.xx.yy.2 (where xx.yy is your team number, or 42.64). Note in the attached screenshot how mine says 10.11.24.02 because my team number is 1124.
I also got a couple screenshot of what you should be seeing. One is the LabVIEW getting started screen, which you should see when you first start LV, and the other is the dialogue for creating a new Robot Code Project.
Thanks for filling that in for me, for it is EXTREMELY IMPORTANT that you change those characters to your proper team number.
I have a question though…I took a look at your second screenshot and I saw a 2012 version. Did you get that from the KOP in the form of a flash drive, because I saw the 2011 version in my KOP…
This is LabVIEW Version 2011 for the 2012 FRC Season. LabVIEW 2012 won’t come out until the spring. I installed from the flash drive in the kit (I did have LV2011 installed previously, but it just brought down my install times) and then installed the updates, which changed the Getting Started Screen and things like that. I have no idea why yours isn’t changed like mine…
