“3,225 different solutions to the same problem” — one of my favorite youtubers just uploaded a video showing off FRC for a non-FRC audience. It’s something I’m definitely gonna use in the future when trying to get people into FRC and show them why it’s such a great program.
I clicked it not expecting to get anyone I know, but I maybe should have expected AlphaPhoenix since I’ve seen that FIRST clock of his before.
The FIRST clock was actually what made me subscribe before I’d even watched a full video from him.
One thing I always found a weird that none of the “mainstream engineering/maker” YouTubers ever referenced High School robotics.
Really good video for recruiting & orientating new team members & their families this year. Since the video is just 20 min & features last year’s game in it’s explanation and pitch, and most teams still have that game’s robot & field elements, you could run a recruiting event incorporating the video & then transitioning to what the team did last year, including a live robot flying around collecting & shooting balls & climbing. Maybe let prospects drive the bot for a few minutes after seeing the game footage in the video.
Is anyone aware of a similarly good video (or content) more focused on mentoring to use for mentor recruiting? The context could be both parent orientation and trying to recruit some parents to be mentors. The COVID sideswipe has left us with less mentor capacity than before.
It seems that it isn’t easy to reference FIRST in a way that makes sense given the content a youtuber is producing. I haven’t seen anyone besides AlphaPhoenix here mention it either. The only time I’ve seen FRC and youtubers mix is in Louis Weisz’s volunteer engineering group that helps him with design and planning for videos — there’s a bunch of FRC students and alums there (I noticed his comment on this video about that as well).
He published the one for 5727 lol Sweeerve (5727 OmegaBytes)

I really hope he does more of these. The videos are poised more for a beginner than something like FUN
i agree, they are a bit more in depth as well, behind the bumpers is cool, but they have to interview very quickly, and sometimes stuff isnt covered as well
https://www.youtube.com/c/xylafoxlin has mentioned in her videos that she was a FIRSTy
