FRC Scout v2.0

Hey everyone!

So today we released version 2.0 version of team 2168’s popular scouting app, FRC Scout. Due to the nature of the app (being able to customize all your options) it didn’t need any game specific updates, but did include some bug fixes and additional features. We added option editing/deletion (YAY!), automatic match gathering/latest match tracking, and fixed crashes on screen rotation during background tasks (a known error is still in some newer versions of Android where orientation changes can potentially crash the app, as well as a bug/feature in Android that prevents some versions from being able to take pictures.)

In order to accomplish some of this we also use the awesome API provided by The First Alliance (http://www.thefirstalliance.org/)

We appreciate any feedback you guys have, and as always have more in store for upcoming releases (we need to program the robot too so couldn’t put it all into this one!) so let us know what you think!

Thank you all for using FRC Scout!

Is the OPR from this website usually up-to-date?

If it pulls from FRC-Spy or the twitter feed, then it can be completely up to date, down to the match (give or take 30 seconds). Otherwise, probably not.

The OPR is pulled from The First Allience, which I believe polls the twitter feed (I may be wrong, I’ll look into it though), so minus the quick processing they do on their end it should be as up to date as possible.

Just to let everyone know, a new version with several major patches has been released. It was brought to my attention (thank you everyone who cooperated!) that whenever a user clicked on an even that is yet to take place the app would crash. This was due to an empty teams list from my source of data, The First Alliance, for events that are yet to take place. They have been notified of the issue and I will let users know when fetching teams from future events is possible (the app will automatically be able to do it when the teams are available.)

Thank you to all who use FRC Scout!
