We all have our favorite FRC resources that we constantly refer back to and share with friends and teammates, but most FRC resources are scattered over various locations on the internet and buried within CD threads. Over the years, a fellow 4468 alumni and I have kept a running list of our favorite resources and decided to turn it into a guide to share with others. We present to you the FRC Survival Guide, a compliation of over 100 of our favorite FRC resources made available by different individuals and teams over the years. Please feel free to use it and share it as you wish, and we would love to hear your feedback, especially if you have any additional resources that we didn’t include that you have found particularly helpful!

This is great, Kristin! Thanks for compiling.
What an incredible resource! Thank you so much!
Cool!!!
Thanks Kristin! This should be helpful.
This is great.
I suggest adding Find Robot Parts: http://www.findrobotparts.com/ to the document.
Hella sick - great job, Kristin! This is going to be required reading for my students for sure.
Great resource! Thanks!
Didn’t even know this existed! Thank you so much for sharing it! Will definitely have to add for the next version!
Thanks Andrew! I hope they are able to benefit and learn from it!
This is a great resource! I will be recommending to my students.
I’m wondering why AndyMark didn’t make it into the editor’s pick list. I would think they would be pretty important for FRC newbies to know about.
Also there’s a typo in the table of contents and on the last page (penumatics instead of pneumatics).
Agreed! When creating this, we were thinking more from our personal team standpoint of what we find ourselves using all the time, but in the next version I will definitely be adding AM as an “editor’s choice” because they do so much to help newer teams who are just getting into FRC.
Thanks for catching that!
Also Would suggest adding http://www.revrobotics.com/ to the list of resources.
This is great I wish I would have had this two years ago when my team started! our mentor had a great knowledge base since he was an alumni from a good while back but this would have been a great place to turn for those “idk?” moments.
Please, please include the FRC game manual page in the next edition. As the ONLY OFFICIAL SOURCE* for rules, rule updates, drawings, and rule interpretation (via Q&A, linked on said page), I don’t think it can be emphasized enough that it needs to be checked regularly. It’s always current.
There is nothing worse than arriving at a competition and finding out that you completely screwed something up and have to rebuild major elements of the robot. (Of course, that leads to another favorite resource: The Team Next Door, who probably has what you need if you ask them… but I digress.)
*I’d prefer to apply bold, italic, underline, maximum size, and all that…but I figure one emphasis is enough. The rest are for the folks who think that “Chief Delphi says…” will fly with the officials ;).
Thank you! I’ll probably spend a decent portion of my summer reading (and re reading) this in preparation for next year
Awesome list. I would also add a couple more: you have WCP on there, but I’d mention that they, along with The Robot Space both carry VexPro parts, which can be useful if stock is getting scarce later in the season. We actually buy almost all of our VexPro components from The Robot Space because of shipping. It’s based in Michigan and we’re in Ohio, so it works out for us. I’d also add Competition Robot Parts for certain items. It’s a fairly new supplier, but the owner has been doing FRC for a while. I think his big product right now are intake roller hex inserts, but also has other useful stuff.
I can’t believe that I forgot to include this :ahh: it’s even one of the few FRC sites that I keep bookmarked on my browser
Great ideas! I will be sure to update those descriptions and add The Robot Space and Competition Robot Parts! I always love learning about new suppliers and where other teams purchase parts from!
Great list! When you do the update, I suggest that you post it as a white paper on CD-Media, as that’s really the go-to place for historical knowledge, then create a thread to discuss.
Great suggestion! I will definitely have to do that!
Thanks, Kristin! Dang, I really wish I had this during my freshman year, though now is as perfect of a time as any other. The hard work and dedication put into the compiling of resources and this document really show. Will definitely be reading up on this!
