FRC TEAM 1939 REVEAL

Hi!

After 6 weeks, we have a robot! Here it is: https://youtu.be/k1OYvxSdC-0

Have fun and see you at Saint Louis and Midwest

Oh. Wait. I won’t be able to check out your “You shall not pass!” break at Greater KC. Well that’s depressing.
Looks like another formidable robot from the Kuh-Nig-Its; and hopefully you’ll qualify for St. Louis champs another year running so I can take a closer look!

Awesome looking bot! We’re looking forward to competing/scouting with you all in two weeks!

Those gears for the sidewinder system look like they’re contacting the carpet.

I hope I’m missing something obvious, because otherwise it looks like a potential R05 violation.

The gears we are using for the module are 72T, so they have an outer diameter of 3.7". We are using 4" omni wheels on the module. It is very tight between the omni wheels and the gears, but there is a little bit of gap remaining. Also, when the module is actuated down, the angle actually favors the omni wheels, which helps increase the distance between the carpet the gears ever so slightly.

I do see your concern with the rule violation as it is extremely close between the carpet and the gears. With our testing, it doesn’t seem to be contacting the floor.

Awesome! I assumed it was something obvious that I was missing. Cool system, good luck at competition!

What kind of rope is that? It looks really fuzzy - prime for a velcro climber.

It is a polypropylene rope from the hardware store. It is pretty grabby, not quite as good as regular velcro, but easier to tie a retaining knot, multi-sided, and requires no sewing. Also really cheap.

It actually gets better with use, so if you want to use the polypropylene, rough it up really good with a piece of industrial velcro first.

Full disclosure, we are probably going to use velcro sewed to a ratchet strap for the actual competition, but the rope is going to be a solid backup.
