Welcome to Team 2158’s 2024 Open Alliance build thread!
Team 2158 is thrilled to be back for our 17th year on The Open Alliance! We are an Explorer Post , Post#2158, or the ausTIN CANs, which encompasses multiple programs that are available for local youth ages 14-21 to participate with us. We have an FRC team, multiple VEX teams, VEXU opportunities, and a Girls Who Code group. Each of these groups works independently and jointly to amplify the visibility of Engineering in our community.
In this thread, we’ll be sharing the intricacies of our build season, covering everything from design to electrical to programming.
This season we will be competing at Waco, TX and Friendwoods, TX.
Goals for the Season:
- Be competitive in the FIT District and continue to improve on our previous successes in 2022 and 2023.
- Train new members: we have a lot of newcomers and doing a lot of training, manufacturing, CAD, and as well a new Business team.
- Embrace simplicity in all parts of our robot, reuse and not create the wheel if already made, optimize programming tuning and performance, and leverage 3D printing and aluminum manufacturing.
- Qualify for the FIT District Championship.
- Have a lot of fun!
