Our shop, the Springdale Robotics Center in Springdale, Arkansas, was hit by a tornado early this morning, one day before we were set to go to Arkansas Regional. Luckily, our robot is mostly intact, but most of our tools, machines, and half of the building were destroyed. We have created two GoFundMe pages, one for our team, 5006 Apophis, and another for the Springdale Robotics Center. The center provides a place for FRC, FTC, and FLL teams to work and learn about robotics. The money gathered from these funds will go toward the replacement of our tools, machines and the reconstruction of our building. Any donations are greatly appreciated.
Hey 5006, if there’s anything we can do as a FIRST community beyond fundraise please let us know (do you need space to work? do you need spare tools? extra resources?)
Hoping that everyone is safe and sound
Thank you for the offer and concern. Fortunately, the two mentors that were in the shop during the storm are ok. Right now, we are just assessing the damage and cleaning up. If we need anything, we will contact you.
As someone who’s dealt with tornadoes before, try and find as many pictures as y’all can of any part of the shop before the tornado (even if it’s just in the background). It will make the insurance process a lot easier if you have that frame of reference.
Wishing y’all the best and hoping everyone is okay, both physically and mentally. Please don’t hesitate to reach out; I have family in northern Louisiana and east Texas with more than enough southern hospitality to help out if needed.
Ouch!
Gotta say, that in the face of such a gut punch event it is nice to see the students at least trying to smile in that photo. Best of luck.
The robot survived a tornado! Imagine what it’ll be able to do on the field!
Best wishes for a low-pain recovery.
Did your stargate survive? It is made of naquadah so it should have. Maybe it just got buried.
All joking aside. Good luck.
Hope you all can make for a good experience this weekend and next month in Houston despite this setback. And that there is more saved than lost.
I will miss having you at Central Missouri this weekend. It was a great experience in 2019 when you helped make the Turkish team 7729 operating well basically giving them full access to your pit and tools.
Best of luck and recovery.
Goa’uld technology is impressive but that does not make them gods.
