Have you considered limiting the number of teams that you can vote for from a single event? It seems to me like certain events get way more attention than others due to the historical success of the teams in attendance. Some events are for sure more competitive than others, but it seems like people just pay attention to 3-4 events and vote for the top 5 at those events.

Waterloo, Georgian College, and Iowa got a lot of attention this week. They were all extremely competitive events no doubt, but were the 5th best robots at Waterloo/Georgian College really better than the best robots at the 16 events that were not featured in this weeks top 25? It’s just a thought, I’ve just noticed some events get a lot more recognition than others.
We did address a couple times on the show that every year when we have more events this means that there is dilution and more events will be left out. As FRC continues to add more events we are exploring options to level the playing field, but we do not plan on making any substantial changes this year.
This list is basically the equivalent of NBA All-Star voting (at least before this year). The most voted teams make the list, teams that don’t get as many votes don’t.
Not pointing out anything in particular about 3309 but based on if they are the best or second best (let’s say 1.5 best) I would say that they fell in an approximate range of where they should have. 27 events were eligible for week 4 voting and if you multiply that by 1.5 that would equal 40.5.
