Hallo all,
We were looking into driving on the charge station for the FRC2023 game. In the video from FIRST you can see it drive in it without the bumpers interacting with it in any way.
When we started drawing, we saw when we put the drivetrain on the field that the bumper interacts with the station when also using the KOP drivetrain. So the drivetrain needs to first bump into the charge station before driving on it.
Has one else also seen this problem? And how can we try to fix this interaction?
drive into it fast enough. Plus as it gets shifted on balance that angle decreases.
Do the sketch.
See what a 34.25 degree approach angle looks like when the bumpers are at max allowable height.
I suspect that all robots will be sliding their bumpers on the ramp and lifting their front wheels off the ground.
Looking at the video again (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ITn8g_zGA-8, 1:10), this would not appear to be the case.
It appears that the edge of the bumper is supporting the robot for part of the journey up the ramp.
I also recommend single-frame-stepping through that part of the video. It is apparent that the ramp is also deforming in response to the robot.
