Well fellow FIRSTies, I got back from FTA (FIRST Technical Adviser) training early Monday Morning. I had a heck of a good time. Other then the trip in from the airport Friday night (Cars playing air table hockey on highway), there were no major glitches. It was really great to meet my fellow FTAs and see what goes on getting ready for the season to start. This year, 9 full fields are being shipped out to various venues. I am not sure if that includes Israel and Brazil.
I am really encouraged that set-up, breakdown and the field electronics are going to be a lot more robust and work smoothly. I am hoping we will see very few false starts this year. FIRST has put a lot of thought and effort into fixing the field electronics and scoring systems so “They’re so simple a caveman can do it.” Now if only someone would go out and find me a caveman… Oops - I think that was one of the FTA prerequisites;-) just call me Ugh!
