Who is going this year for the ontario championship.
Hopefully team 168, Minirobotics, will be there. I hear there are only going to be 11 teams…is that true?
I count 15:
There are 15 teams going. Most of them rookies.
Ah, i see team 168 is not on the list, but none the less, I believe 168 will be there. So that would make 16, 8 alliances of two robots, everyone makes into finals. :D.
2 teams dropped out.
13 teams. Finals were 4 alliances of 3 teams each. Winning team was 27, congrats, they deserved it. Winning alliance was 27, 541, and 168.
I forgot awards sorry.
Many people had problems with the FMS, and the new experience of Tetrix. Nonetheless it was a fun tournament.
With the FMS issues, how many qualifying matches did you get in?
There were 17 qualifying matches, I believe 2 rematches.
each team have 5 matches. They had technical dificulties on both fields and queing took a while
HEY GUYS!!! just found out this great place!
i see you mentioned our team , i’m one of the drivers from team 541, and we were soo excited when we got the invitation to atlanta (my teacher and i high fived even though we were in the middle of a test).
we’ve got much to learn though. just dropping by to say high
EDIT: and our team would REALLY REALLY appreciate it if we can borrow walls off of you guys if you’re near the GTA area. we’re really tight on budget and we need all the help we can get. thx guys, even if SOME piece of the wall is great
Well, I’m not in the GTA area, so I can’t help you there, but there are ways to make the walls out of wood blocks. I would recommend trying that option.
We made wall out of wood, and it caused us a couple problems. Our walls didn’t bend outward when we ran into them, but the competition walls did, screwing us up. If you do go with that option, make sure to account for that. It was still better than no walls at all, though.
Ohhh I can’t believe I forgot!! Idiocy on my part! I’d really like to thank (times a million!) all the people who helped bring my robot up and operational when we were having immense competition ware and tear done on our robot right before the finals! Thanks a ton, hope to see you again next year! (and I hope I can return the favour)
hey team 168! your very welcome ^^ you guys going to Atlanta too? grats
Yeah and this time we won’t have the immense technical difficulties I’m redesigning so it’s going to be a killer defense bot
congrats to you too, talk to me on gmail, skype or msn, maybe we can have practice matches together, get 27 in it too
hey guys, do you know if there’s any other ways of ordering parts other than online? somewhere near the Toronto area? it takes too long for it to ship and stuff if we order it now. the orders we placed aren’t gonna come until after march break… all i know is where to get the servos. but are there like… retail stores for the FTC parts?
No. I wish Nor is there in the states (unless Pitsco has hobby stores that carry Tetrix??
)
Unfortunately we Canadians have to wait. Luckily it ships with FedEx so be patient, it won’t take too long. We got our kit in about a week and we’re hoping our new parts will arrive soon!
Congrats guys!! You guys were awesome to partner with! Look forward to seeing both teams in Atlanta! We definitely would seriously consider picking you guys again in Atlanta - we really appreciated how well you guys can think on your feet.
As far as walls goes, it basically cost about $100-$150 to build the walls using
the design for the low cost field (using PVC pipes and 1/8" board). Let me know if you need help getting a field built – really can’t spare our field as we are fine tuning our autonomous mode with our field.
Yeah, the only way to get the parts is to ship it up with Fedex. If you really need the parts fast, you can do next day shipping with Pitsco – we did that before the tournament, but it cost us an extra $78 for the shipping!
