Hello I am on FTC 11130 as well as FRC 45. We are experiencing issues communicating with our devices through USB via the core distribution module on our FTC bot. We are getting power, but have the issue with the USB communication. If we directly connect each device to the phone it communicates, but will not communicate through the power distribution sometimes. We have had this issue before, but resolved by itself, then reappeared later that day and its intermittent working and not working. Any help would be very appreciated.
Elliot,
There is a local power supply that feed the USB Hub that is built in to the Core Module. Check the LEDS that can be seen through the white cover. You should have the 12 V, 5 V. and 3.3 V LEDs on and there should be a USB enabled LED as well.
Not sure if this will help, but a senior First advisor helped us at the last event with the same issue.
We had a motor controller AND a backup motor controller that would just randomly every once and a while stop responding… but only during startup.
He said that with older motor controllers (this one was donated to us as was our backup) that sometimes they would just do that during startup. The fix is to turn off power and wait at least 15 seconds. Once we learned this trick we went from not being able to drive it to winning the event.
He said that Andymark will refresh the firmware for like $10 but probably only during off season.
The control system comes from Modern Robotics so I’m interested in why AndyMark would flash firmware for it.
Cause I misspoke. Just used to doing a lot of shopping at Andymark.
