[FTC]: Scouting Database for all teams

My team uses a microsoft access file that i created to be used to be able to print out information. If any teams are interested I will try to get it online and put a link here. It is actually very easy to use, but not everyone has this software.

All forums posted here, send to my email ([email protected]), and sent to me as a PM will be included in a final word file, txt file, and a Microsoft Access file that will be posted on my teams website (http://eaglevex.syraweb.org) and links will be provided on this site and on Vexlabs. This is an effort to get some scouting going for all teams in Atlanta.

Another thing, I was thinking that teams who are going to Atlanta, if they are so inclined, could fill out a simple ‘form’ on the forum here so that scouting can begin for all.

The form

Quote:
TEAM NAME -
TEAM NUMBER -
RING CAPACITY -
SCORE ON SIDE GOAL - y/n
SCORE ON PLATFORM - y/n
SCORE ON SINGLE GOAL - y/n
SCORE ON PAIRED GOAL - y/n
LATCH ONTO GOAL - y/n
AUTONOMOUS - y/n
OVERALL STRATEGY -
OFFENSIVE OR DEFENSE? -
SPEED (1-10) -
MANUVERABILIY (1-10) -
ROBOT DESCRIBTION -
LINK TO PICTURE -
COMMENTS -

Teams are not requred to fill this form out at all, and if they choose to fill out this form, you can fill out only certain parts of the form.

I think thinking that this would be a good way to start peoples scouting, sort of similar to how FRC teams have a database of all teams on a site with videos, pictures, text, etc.

A week before Atlanta I will post a file here that will include the access file that will have all information that was posted here, and from information we already have on a few teams.

Just an idea to throw out there from Team Unlimited.

I’ll start the forms
TEAM NAME - Team Unlimited
TEAM NUMBER - 1
RING CAPACITY - 9 to 10
SCORE ON SIDE GOAL - y
SCORE ON PLATFORM - y
SCORE ON SINGLE GOAL - y
SCORE ON PAIRED GOAL - y
LATCH ONTO GOAL - n (subject to change)
AUTONOMOUS - y
OVERALL STRATEGY - ring scoring
OFFENSIVE OR DEFENSE? - offensive
SPEED (1-10) - 8 (gear shifter gives us high speed and low speed)
MANUVERABILIY (1-10) - 8 (omni wheels allow manuverability, and gear shifter allows us to push but be fast when needed)
ROBOT DESCRIBTION - 4 motor drive, has a gear shifter (5:3 and 3:5), high ring capacity, and score relatively fast
LINK TO PICTURE -

COMMENTS - A small team with a lot of ambition, has a gear shifter

I hope this is the first of many!

NOTE: Unlike the last time i posted this, please only use this thread for the use of posting your teams scouting information. Once again, this is not required by any means, but I was hoping that teams would be willing to give information about there robot.

This information is available FOR ALL TEAMS who wish to check it out, not just my team.

A final document will be posted about 1 weeks before Atlanta, and maybe an updated file once or twice before that is more entries come in. If any updates happen the day before, I will most likely have the databases on a thumb drive that your team can use to copy the information over.

I realized that not everyone will be open to this idea, so I thought of a way you could help the database.

  1. submit information on another team at your tournmament
  2. submit only partial information
  3. submit information through email or PM (this info will only be released in the final report a week before atlanta)

Just a few ideas to try to incent people to submit info.

Also, if you know information on teams or have contact with teams who are going, but don’t have an account on the forums, please ask them if they would be willing to submit information on their robot.

Some new stuff that you could add to your submissions:

  • regionals you attended
  • what got you to atlanta (winning alliance, inspire award) (with what tournaments you won them at)
  • your teams position on the winning alliance (captain, 1st pick, 2nd pick)
  • and just general information you would be willing to submit.

Thanks!

PS. We are currently reworking the database to be more “user friendly”, when it is completed, I will post it in the paper’s page here with a link in this forum.

I have posted the first public version of the database here:
http://www.chiefdelphi.com/media/papers/2105

I hope that you all will give comments about it, and please contact me if there is A) something wrong with the data, B) some errors that arise, C) anything in general.

Thanks guys, and don’t forget to submit your teams data!
