[FTC]: some FCS questions

Having an issue with FCS

  1. I can get the FCS to connect with the Samantha fine.
  2. The Samantha and the NXT are on and the wire is connected between the two.
  3. In the FCS I click on the joystick driver 1, there are two green circles to the left for the two controllers.
  4. I don’t mess with the configuration. I just let the autonomous run through, but I have tried also to disable the autonomous but it does not affect the problem.
  5. I go to the choose and select my Samantha.
  6. It connects and I get a green window.
  7. I click on the start match, if it is autonomous mode I let it go through and then restart the teleop match. If there is no autonomous called for I just start match.
  8. The NXT says there is my program running.
  9. But there is no response from the joysticks.
  10. I know the program works as I can run it via the usb cable or through bluetooth

any help is appreciated.

Are you using LABview or Robot C? The only thing i can think of is if your using LABview make sure your using the FTC read latest packet.vi instead of last year’s version, as last years would work via bluetooth and usb but not wifi.

If I understand you correctly, when the FCS starts, you do nothing at the joystick configurations page (where the green circles are on the left side)? If so, that is your problem. You need to press a button on one controller to identify it as controller one for the first team, then press a button on the second controller for the second team… NOTE: If you have the sound turned on for your computer when you start the FCS, you should hear the program prompting to select the controller for Red 1 Driver 1 (press a button on the desired controller)…

When you bring up the window for the match, you should see two controllers assigned to the first team. If the FCS does not show controllers assigned to the position that you assign your robot, then no controller information will be sent to your robot.

We are using Robot c.

When the joystick window comes up, there are two green circles to the left of the two red and two blue driver alliances. We are using 2 joysticks for one driver.
There is a question mark flashing to the right of red driver 1, we press the square driver 1 station button and the question mark goes away.
If we press the actual circles there is no response, so we assumed that by pressing the square driver 1 button the joysticks are assigned.

Do we do something further to assign the joysticks? We have noddled around and have no where to further assign the joyosticks.

thanks

Pressing the square does not assign the joysticks. You have to press a button on the joystick itself. The joysticks will be assigned in the order you push the joystick buttons. When you press a button on the joystick, the green circle will move to be beside the selected driver location. After you assign the joysticks, you should see a green circle beside each of the drive positions. When the main screen is displayed you should see two green circles under the status window for Red Team 1 (presuming you assign two joysticks to Red Team 1). When you press buttons on the joysticks, the corresponding circle will “light” up.

thanks that worked. It is up and running

thanks again once again people on chief delphi bailed us out
