FTC Velocity Vortex's Most Insane Robot - Team 12357

I’m so amazed that a FTC robot like this exists that I can’t even begin to describe it.

This is the coolest robot FLL. FTV. FRC, VEX, ETC ever.

To be honest this reminds me most of the FLL robots I’ve heard about that do the entire field challenge in one run by slowly disassembling themselves. Of course you can’t detach parts intentionally anymore, but FLL teams build some pretty insane all-in-one robots.

What.A.Robot. That is a great piece of design and engineering work.

It really is too bad that it didn’t work. This idea was sarcastically thrown out during our post-kickoff design discussions.

It reminds me of the absolute insanity that was some of the Recycle Rush designs. (which is probably the reason we have extension limits now) I can see this robot going pretty far.

That thing is absurdly over complicated. Love it!

Very interesting!

The motor limits in FTC (8 motors) make this pretty hard to pull off, so it really does take some amazing design work to make this possible. Edit: actually, lots of things make this really hard… the space constraint is just brutal, the ability to make the wiring work must have been a real beast of a job, and getting the controls figured out must have been an interesting task, too.

Being in two places at once (or three) is a really attractive benefit to go after in Velocity Vortex. Being able to win the beacon button game without needing to shop shooting particles is pretty sweet.

I was lucky enough to see it at the Montana state tournament and it was the coolest thing ever. Sadly they didn’t get to compete because they were too big.
