Our team was curios if there were any teams that we could coordinate with to get practice time on a full field. We are not able to get a realistic simulation of a full field in our shop unless we were outside in the snow looking through the window. :yikes: We personally are located in Dayton, Ohio and were looking for someone within about an hour or two, so like cincinatti, columbus and indianapolis are all feasable. If anyone else has a full field that others may use, feel free to post because it may benefit others elsewhere.
The TechnoKats workshop in Kokomo, Indiana has a full-sized practice field that we are happy to share with other teams. It’s a bit of a hike from Dayton, though.
I wish you guys were closer to the Eastern part of PA. You could come out to our “robot barn” any time, we’d love to have you. We have building just for robotics which includes a full-field for use all year round.
Thanks to very dedicated parent volunteers we have very nice full size field in Oswego, IL . Our bot is not driving yet so we have not had a chance to take full advantage yet. It would be about 6 hour dive from Dayton. If you or any other team would like to use it just PM anyone from team 2338.
As it sits, we are unable to make the trip this weekend, but are also building a practice bot. We are looking foward to future oppurtunities before our first competition in pitt during week 2.
There is a full practice field in Pittsburgh PA…about 4.5 hours away. It is located at The Ellis Armory.
We are holding a scrimmage or Week Zero Competition on Saturday the 18th from 11 am to 3 pm.

You could look for local scrimmages to get some practice. Although you won’t be able to get a feel for the field, you will be able to get some competition practice. In the future you may want to build your own practice field, even if it isn’t exactly the same, you could still get the basic field pieces and have your driver get the feel for the field.
Jimmy- I personally would love to be able to attend a competition week one but with multiple schedual conflicts won’t be able to. I will however definitly be spending my free time watching the podcasts of them online to get a feel for the flow of the game and trying to look for strategys that work and don’t work.
Rogue leader- we have constructed various field elements in our shop such as the hoops, ramp, and bump and those we will definitly be practicing on those. We were really wanting to practice controlling a robot that is on the opposite side of the field and we just don’t have that option in our shop.
We will have the ability to control a robot on the opposite side of the field in our space or in one of the other mall spaces. We just don’t have the official drivers station and the sidewalls. We are working with the mall to locate a more open space in the mall to use for the weekend. You are more than welcome to come down and share the space with us.
