DuPont is currently looking for BS / MS Chemical and Mechanical Engineers for the Field Engineering Program.

DuPont Field Engineering has existed since 1903 and offers early career development by experiencing several types of jobs in different DuPont businesses at different sites. A minimum of two assignments is required, each being 2-3 years in length. Geographic flexibility is a requirement while active as a Field Engineer.

The Field Engineering Program provides you with early-career opportunities to experience the diversity of DuPont in a series of two- to three-year assignments leading towards a career path. The Program offers you a way to build a solid record of accomplishments and a broad-based perspective of the company. Finally, it offers you flexibility to work at several DuPont sites before determining where your talents best suit our business needs.

Field Engineering Program assignments include a variety of technical, manufacturing and leadership positions. The following include, but are not limited to, descriptions of typical initial work assignments:

Assistance to Operations / Process Engineering - Provide technical support to a production area. The engineer’s activities may include improving an existing manufacturing process by increasing product yield, quality, or equipment utilization; or aiding in short-term process or product development programs.

Project and Design - Implement capital projects to build new or improve existing facilities. Responsibilities include reviewing basic data, developing project justification and scopes, coordinating design, and managing project construction.

Maintenance / Reliability Engineering - Ensure that manufacturing equipment is properly installed, monitored, and maintained to operate with maximum efficiency and safety. This may include: trouble-shooting equipment reliability problems, implementing corrective design and repair activities, applying advanced reliability tools to diagnose root causes, and developing predictive/preventive maintenance programs for equipment and facilities.

Research and Development - Apply engineering principles to task areas ranging from fundamental research on new processes and products to development of work to improve and/or diversify existing product lines. Laboratory, pilot plant, or full-scale production tests are used by the engineer to accomplish process technology and product advances.
Process Control - Develop systems to monitor and control manufacturing processes and equipment. Activities include developing, designing, applying and/or trouble-shooting instrumentation, electronic circuitry and computer hardware and software for a wide variety of chemical and mechanical processes.

Energy/Power Systems - Provide electrical and instrument engineering support for power and utilities facilities located at manufacturing locations. Activity includes design, installation and maintenance of equipment and technology

Environmental Engineering - Find technical solutions for environmental compliance, including waste minimization, waste disposal, permitting and waste remediation. The environmental engineer supports the DuPont core mission of sustainable growth- increasing value to society while reducing our environmental footprint.

Other - There are also various opportunities available in consulting, supply chain, marketing, and technical service.

Minimum Requirements:

Successful candidates for the New or Recent Graduate Engineer position must meet the following minimum requirements:

  • BS or MS degree in Engineering from an ABET accredited school
  • Major in Chemical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering
  • Legal right to work in the U.S. without restriction
  • Overall GPA of greater than or equal to 3.0 (based on a 4.0 scale)
  • New graduates: A minimum of 6 months relevant industrial co-op work terms or internships
  • Recent graduates: A maximum of 5 years full-time engineering work experience
  • Demonstrated strengths in technical, interpersonal and leadership skills
