AMAA Q&A for Paul. If you have any questions that you would like Paul to answer post them in here or tag @firstupdatesnow live on the show. We will get to as many as possible.
Awesome drawing of the new 148 robot coming from Word Play All Day and a sweet giveaway too!
Paul is definitely one of the most experienced and well respected FRC mentors to ever participate in FIRST.
That’s awesome that he is making time to participate in this FUN interview this off-season.
If nothing else, it’d be nice to know if/when VEXPro is announcing their 2018 refresh. From a recent video, it looks like they’ve prototyped a versaframe gusset with direct mounting for 775/550/BAG motor. (Or I could be completely wrong and those bolt circles are for something else entirely :D)
Earlier this year, Paul offered to have VEX run some objective testing on different drivetrain configurations. Does he have any updates on this?
Seriously Paul how the **** did you manage to make this call to carry 2 gears and foil our strategy?
If we were 10 seconds faster and gave up a hang or two I think we could have pulled it off. You can tell i’ve been thinking about our strategy all summer… Huge props to you, your drive team, and alliance for pulling off the win
What was your strategy? They got 4 rotors without using one of the two gears so it would have been just as difficult to stop their 4 rotors even if they had only brought one gear; plus should have been a foul or tech foul in your favor, so it doesn’t seem like it was a good strategic decision to carry two gears. What am I missing?
Thank you to everyone who submitted questions or PM’d me. We’re very excited to have Paul on and who knows maybe we can get him to spill some of the new VEXpro products coming for 2018 (no promises).
