When in a competition is it acceptable to “show off abilities” that might be of interest to an alliance captain even if it may not be in the best strategic interest of your alliance?
How does a team approach their alliance partners knowing that they want to show off an ability to be a 1st or 2nd pick and also knowing that it might not be the best strategy to win a match or get bonus RPs?
Should alliance captains ask teams to show off abilities if those abilities might cause an alliance to lose a match? (playing defense instead of offense) (completing rocket RP instead of scoring cargo) (in sandstorm, placing two HP on cargo ship instead of two HP on rocket, which could keep your alliance from getting rocket RP)
When does asking a team to show off an ability violate C3 or C4?
It’s Day 0, 2020. The game is announced. Your match strategists predict that levels of defense will be somewhere between 2013 levels (aggressive, but workable) and 2014/2019 levels (hyper-aggressive).
What seemingly-minor questions about robot design (e.g., drive base size, or height in 2016) can the strategy team can ensure the design team answers thoughtfully in order to influence success in elims this hypothetical 2020 game?
In the interest of consensus and “picking your battles”, in your experiences are there any high impact decisions about design elements that the strategists should firmly insist upon?
Thank you for your questions. Between here and our Discord we have a lot to go off of . We’ll take questions until 6pm ET here and otherwise you can ask live during the show at twitch.tv/firstupdatesnow
